This rustic rope mat is based on an Ocean Plait Mat, which has been used by sailors for centuries. I have named it after our first boat.
Jute is hard wearing and has been used for centuries for ropemaking as well as cloth. It is still grown sustainably.
I love the blond colours and texture. It looks great in a country kitchen or beach house doorway. It could be used as a table centrepiece, or as a doormat. Please be aware that it hasn't got any anti slip underneath, so it is not for use on a polished floor.
Best used indoors as the natural plant-based rope is prone to mildew if in a damp place. Our poly hemp version would be preferable for outdoors , have a browse of the collection of mats here .
Length 480 mm x (19 inches)
Width 300 mm (11 inches)
Jute rope is best kept clean by regular vacuuming, and if necessary wipe with a damp cloth and leave to dry naturally. For more details about jute read my blog on the subject.
